  Hello, it’s OIA from Silla University’s Office of International Affairs!

  In this post, I will introduce the Korean Language Education Center of Silla University among many Korean language schools in Korea.

Korean Language Program

Introduction

  The Korean Language Institute (SKLI), located in Busan, Korea, was founded in February 2002 as one of the best Korean language institutes in Youngnam province. The university has a high level of academic excellence, excellent teaching methods, the best acceptance rate for TOPIK, and high levels of classroom satisfaction.

  By doing hands-on learning and field trips at SKLI, you learn not only Korean language, but also Korean culture, history, and everything about Busan. Furthermore, we strive to diversify our culture and foster global human resources by working with dozens of different countries.

 

  Now, in earnest, I will tell you in detail what courses are taught at the Korean Language Education Center at Silla University and what programs are available.

 SUKLI Program Contents

- Two semesters: per year (Spring and Fall)

- One semester: a total of 400 hours (20 weeks, 5 days a week, 4hes a day)

- Spring semester: March-July (20 weeks), Fall semester: September-January (20 weeks)

- Methodology: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary, Conversation Grammar, TOPIK

- Class size: A about 12 students divided by level

- Textbook: Published by Silla University (Vitamin Korean Language 1~4)

 Qualification (Entry Requirement)

A type: People who need a new language training visa (D-4) overseas

   Foreigners (or Korean nationals abroad, citizens) who have completed a regular high school course or equivalent or above academic career.

B type: People who need to extend visa (D-4) period in Korea

   Foreigners staying in Korea who need to change their visa to D-4 or transfer students from other Korean language institutes in Korea.

C-Type: People who have any other types of visas or Korean

  – Foreigners (or Korean nationals abroad, citizens) who have a visa to stay in Korea for more than 90 days.

 The language training students with D4 visas can participate in the Korean language program maximum of 2 years.

Curriculum

Regular Course Program

  The program is consists of 400 hours in 20 weeks of studies, providing international students with high-quality intensive Korean language training to assist them in attaining proficiency in the Korean language and developing their cultural awareness.

  The training program is directed to help prepare students academically to meet university course requirements.

  Students who are interested may join our program.

 Cultural Experience

1. A tour of Busan and Gyeongju 

2. MT, one night, two nights

3. Cooking Korean Food (Kimchi, Bibimbap, Seongpyeon, Gungjung, Tteokbokki, Japchae, etc.)

4. Understanding Korean culture and tradition through various practical workshops, such as:

Wearing Korean traditional dress (Hanbok)

Learning Korean traditional decorum

Participating in a traditional tea ceremony

5. Learning how to play Korean traditional instruments (Samulnori).

6. Learning Taekwondo

7. Watching cultural performances.

8. Visiting business enterprises

9. Learning Hanji (Korean Paper) Art

 

Korean Language Assistance

•   Program Benefits

1. Gives an opportunity for international students to adapt to a new environment and to promote learning about the Korean language and culture through the Buddy Program.

2. Grants (Korean, English) Volunteer Experience Certification issued by the Director of Silla Korean Language Institute. Please note that this program does not give academic credit.

A State-funded Course

 Korean Government Scholarship Program

  The Korean Government Scholarship Program has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of Silla University and the National Institute for International Education. The program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students, with the aim of promoting international exchange in education as well as mutual friendship amongst 30 participating countries.

· Modern Culture Workshop: Noraebang (Korean KTV), Jjimjilbang (Korean dry sauna), Visiting Sports Center and Watching different performances, etc.

· Visiting Industrial Organizations: Samsung Motors, POSCO, Hyundai Motors, shipyard, etc.

Short Term Program

 Short Term Korean Language and Culture Program

  This program is available during summer and winter break. The program's curriculum focuses on Korean language and cultural education and is tailored to the needs of each student.

  To broaden and improve a student’s mastery of written Korean for academic purposes.

  • Giving graduate students advice on how to write reports and papers
  • Making sure you write correctly through individualized education

 Korean Language Instructor Training Program

  Along with the rapidly growing global interest in learning Korean, Silla KLI offers this program, which aims to foster Korean language teaching, thereby contributing to the internationalization of Korean and the improvement of the quality of Korean language education worldwide.

  • Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate of completion signed by the Director of Silla Korean Language Institute.
  • The Korean Language Education Institute Award is given to the top students after additional evaluation.

Korean Language Course for Adults

Course Introduction

 Business Korean Course

This course is a one-on-one to a small group program that allows instructors to personally visit learners' businesses.
This course provides educational processes that are dependent on the individual capacity of the learner. Furthermore, only the applicant is permitted to participate in the institute's various programs.

1. The course content may be configured to suit one’s characteristics and level of learning.

 Korean Language and Culture Course for Foreign Nationals

  This course is required for foreign nationals living in Korea to learn language and cultural skills that can be used in the workplace and in daily life. The course consists of intensive weekday and Saturday programs to help students manage their time effectively.

1. Everyday Life Korean: Course content can be tailored to the individual characteristics and learning levels.
